How to Read a ZKTeco or BioTime Attendance Export
A typical ZKTeco or BioTime export has one row per punch with columns such as AC-No. (the employee number on the device), Name, Date, Time and State (check-in or check-out). The rows are raw punches, not daily totals, so they must be paired per employee and day. The free WatheeqaHR attendance analyzer reads this layout directly and turns it into late days, absences and missing punches.
Steps
-
Identify the employee number column
AC-No., Emp No., User ID, Enroll No. or PIN is the number the device uses for the employee. It is the key for grouping punches, so it must be the same number for the same person every month.
-
Identify date and time
Some exports have separate Date and Time columns, others one combined Date/Time column. Both work; make sure the dates are complete and in one format.
-
Read the State column
State shows whether a punch was an entry or an exit, for example C/In and C/Out, or 0 and 1. Some exports leave it empty; then the first punch of the day is treated as arrival and the last as departure.
-
Remember that each row is one punch
An employee who punched in, went on a break and came back has several rows on the same day. Totals must be calculated per day, not per row.
-
Analyze it without formulas
Upload the export as it is to the free WatheeqaHR attendance analyzer. It detects the ZKTeco/BioTime layout, Arabic or English headers, and returns late days, absences and missing punches per employee.
